I had fun with this sketch from the pencillines.com blog.  Everyone seems to be into banners right now.

And here's what I did with it.

This is my son Brian back in the summer of 1998.  He absolutely loved construction equipment and would tell everyone he was going to be a "Back Po" Man.  So glad I got an opportunity to use that in a title.  So don't worry -- it's not a typo.

Snow Men

Here are my boys enjoying the snowstorm that we had on 12/26/2010. I love Eastern NC snow.  It was all completely gone in 2 days!  My kind of snow.

I don't use a lot of glimmer mist -- but I tried my hand at using it today.  I punched out some snowflakes and laid them on the white paper and then sprayed the top. I'm pretty happy with the results.  I received the cute little snowman in a swap of winter items.

The scallop is hand cut using a punched heart -- I love the unevenness of it.

Cats Love Christmas Too

Here is my sweet Pumpkin at Christmas.  He loves the tree and to play in all the gift wrap.  Sadly he had o presents under the tree.  I cut the borders using a heart punch.  There is a hidden journaling tag tucked on the right side.

I wanted to use Christmas colors without using typical Christmas papers.

Scarecrow

My son is very creative & is always busy doing something crazy.  Every year as part of spirit week at school they have one day called -- Character Day.  Where they can get dressed up as a character from a movie, literature, pop culture.  You get the idea.  He told me he was going to be "Scarecrow"; of course, I thought he meant the sweet & lovable scrarecrow from Wizard of Oz

Oh NO!  He busied himself designing the mask & gloves -- he sewed them completely by himself.  I had no idea who he was supposed to be when he walked downstairs in a jacket & tie.  But then he showed me the pic from the movie.  (top photo)  I think he did a pretty good job.

So I wanted to do this lo justice.  I think I had as much fun as Brendan.

Except for the blue -- everything here is scraps.  I have no idea what the brand of pp is -- it's been in my stash for a while.  The square is brown kraft paper -- which I love working with.  I distressed it using Making Memories Edge Distress & then inked the edges with brown cat eyes chalk ink.  I added some scraps of paper which I also distressed and a bit of burlap.  I twisted several pieces of twine -- brown & blue and stapled it done on the ends.

I was really happy with the title (well to be honest, not at first).  I used my deep cut blade to cut out the letters in cardboard.  They didn't cut very throughly, but I like the ragged look.  I inked them with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo & Black Soot.  The font is Feeling Groovy - one of my favs.

I love the white Signo pen for journaling.

Everyone loved Brendan's costume & I so proud he did it all by himself.  What a catch he's gonna be!
